1. Prepare the steak tips

Start by selecting your preferred cut of steak for the tips. Popular options include sirloin, flank, or skirt steak. Trim excess fat from the steak and cut it into evenly sized pieces, typically about 1 to 2 inches in thickness.

2. Make the beer teriyaki marinade

In a mixing bowl, combine your favorite teriyaki sauce with beer. The beer adds a unique flavor profile to the marinade. You can use any type of beer you like, but a lager or ale works well. Add minced garlic, grated ginger, brown sugar, soy sauce, and a splash of sesame oil to the mixture.

3. Marinate the steak

Place the steak tips in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag. Pour the beer teriyaki marinade over the steak, ensuring that all pieces are evenly coated. Seal the dish or bag and place it in the refrigerator to marinate.

4. Prepare the grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If you're using a charcoal grill, allow the coals to become hot and ash over before cooking.

5. Remove the steak from the marinade

Once the steak has finished marinating, remove it from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. This helps ensure more even cooking.

6. Grill the steak tips

Remove the steak tips from the marinade, shaking off any excess liquid. Place them on the preheated grill and cook for about 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Use tongs to flip the steak tips halfway through the cooking process.

7. Baste with marinade

While grilling, you can baste the steak tips with some of the reserved marinade for added flavor and moisture. Be sure to discard any marinade that has come into contact with raw meat to prevent cross-contamination.

8. Rest and serve

Once the steak tips are cooked to your liking, remove them from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, ensuring a juicy and flavorful result.
