2. Coat with Sesame Seeds

Place the sesame seeds on a plate. Press the tuna steaks into the sesame seeds, coating them evenly on all sides. Gently press the sesame seeds into the tuna so they adhere well.

3. Heat the Oil

In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers but doesn't smoke. Make sure the skillet is large enough to accommodate both tuna steaks without crowding.

4. Sear the Tuna

Carefully place the sesame-crusted tuna steaks into the hot skillet. Sear them for about 1-2 minutes on each side, or until the sesame seeds are golden brown and the tuna is seared on the outside but still pink in the center. Be careful not to overcook the tuna.

5. Make the Aioli

While the tuna is searing, prepare the cilantro lime aioli. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, minced garlic, chopped cilantro, lime juice, salt, and pepper. Mix well until everything is thoroughly combined. Adjust the seasoning to taste.

6. Serve

Once the tuna steaks are seared to your desired doneness, remove them from the skillet and transfer them to a cutting board. Let them rest for a minute before slicing.

7. Slice the Tuna

Using a sharp knife, slice the seared tuna steaks thinly against the grain. This will help to ensure tenderness.

8. Plate and Garnish

Arrange the sliced tuna on a serving platter or individual plates. Drizzle the cilantro lime aioli over the tuna or serve it on the side as a dipping sauce. Garnish with additional fresh cilantro leaves or lime wedges if desired.
