Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). While the oven is preheating, place a 10-inch cast-iron skillet inside to heat up.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and creamy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.
Once the dough is formed, fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Carefully remove the preheated skillet from the oven (remember to use oven mitts!). Press the cookie dough evenly into the bottom of the skillet.
Place the skillet back into the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
